When I was 9 years old, I was quite intrigued with a story from one of my text book. The story is about how Einstein learn.

While Einstein was waiting for a friend on the bridge, he was working on some mathematical formula on his notebook. His friend apologised for his lateness and Einstein claim that it was fine with him as he had managed to solve a small part of the problem. I could not find the source to verify the authenticity of the story but I was inspired and intrigued by the way how Einstein managed his time.

I just don’t have enough time to …

We have all said it before. Look at Einstein, Thomas Edison and Elon Musk. They all have 24 hrs and look at what they have done. How are they able to learn the required skill so quickly that help them to create so many ground breaking innovation?

“It is important to view knowledge as sort of a semantic tree — make sure you understand the fundamental principles, ie the trunk and big branches, before you get into the leaves/details or there is nothing for them to hang on to.”

Elon Musk’s answer to the question of learning quickly.

In other words, we need to have a strong knowledge foundation before we could learn new things. If you are going to learn a new programming language like Swift, it will be good if you have a good understanding of how object-oriented works.

What if you already have a strong foundation in work and you would like to get to leaves/detail as Elon Musk had mentioned. How do you connect the dots so that you could have an effective learning output?

I am quite curious in these area and been a business owner, I would like to explore on how I could help my team to cultivate personal growth. Maybe this will lead to somewhere.
